Public Radio's Core Values

Public Radio’s Core Values define and articulate the fundamental appeal of public radio to our listeners. The values fall into three distinct categories:

  • The Qualities of Mind/Intellect
  • The Qualities if Heart and Spirit
  • The Qualities of Craft

Public Radio’s Core Values were identified by the Public Radio Program Directors Association (PRPD). Between 2000 and 2006, The Core Values Project conducted six different projects, exploring the values embodied in each of public radio’s three major formats (news, classical, jazz). Three project reports focus on public radio’s news/talk/information programming:
