for a list and brief description for each of the Core Values.
Public Radio’s Core Values were identified by the Public Radio Program Directors Association (PRPD). Between 2000 and 2006, The Core Values Project conducted six different projects, exploring the values embodied in each of public radio’s three major formats (news, classical, jazz). Three project reports focus on public radio’s news/talk/information programming:
- Defining Public Radio’s Core Values: The Core Values Summit (2000)
- The Core Values of Local News/Information/Talk Programming (2001)
- Sense of Place: The Value and Values of Localism (2006)
Public Radio’s Core Values form the bedrock of the work done by the Local News Initiative. They have also inspired a variety of other projects and tools including:
The PRPD/PRNDI News/Talk Toolkit
The Four Tiers of News Coverage
Four Tiers of Coverage Self-Evaluation Tool- Localism and Morning Edition Research (2007)
- Talk Show Best Practices Project
