Based on the Morning Edition Grad School concept JMEGS was designed by Peter Dominowski, Tanya Ott and Cathy Duchamp. They facilitate the workshops and provide follow-up consultation to JMEGS stations.
Peter Dominowski has been involved in public radio since 1975. He was recognized with national programming awards in both commercial classical radio at WFMT [Marconi Award], and in public radio at WMFE [Ralph Award]. He was a founder of PRPD and a creator of the MEGS concept. He has published books and articles on radio research and programming, and has conducted numerous focus groups and surveys for networks, producers, and stations, including the Local News Project National Research Reports.
Tanya Ott provides analysis of local journalism in MEGS. Tanya is News Director at WBHM. She has worked in news at WUFT-FM (Gainesville, FL), WCBS-AM (NYC), and Colorado Public Radio (Denver, CO), and spent three years as an independent producer working for national news programs. Tanya's reporting for shows like Marketplace, Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Savvy Traveler, Living on Earth has garnered dozens of professional awards. She's also a trainer for the Public Radio News Directors NewsWorks program and a mentor with the Association of Independents in Radio.
Cathy Duchamp is an editor and reporter who entered public radio the day the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded. She has worked in news at KUOW-FM (Seattle, WA), and was regional news director for the Northwest News Network collaborative in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Cathy is now reporting and consulting from Baltimore MD. Her stories run on shows like Marketplace and Morning Edition. She also edits business features and spots for Marketplace.
