Why Morning Edition?
Morning Edition is public radio's most important program:
- It accounts for 16% of all listener hours to public radio.
- It has more listening than any other national program.
- At many stations Morning Edition accounts for more than 25% of all weekly listening.
- It is one of the main drivers for public radio's listener support.
Morning Edition includes many different elements that must be managed successfully to maximize audience service. The Morning Edition Grad School (MEGS) offers three different workshops to help stations improve all facets of their local presentation in this critical daypart.
- MEGS -- The Essentials of Local News, Formatics, and Underwriting
- NEW! MEGS for Managers -- A Comprehensive Look at Investment and Return
- J-MEGS -- Local Journalism -- Strengthening Local Newscasts, Interviews, and Features
Morning Edition Grad School is the first national effort aimed at assuring peak performance for Morning Edition on local stations. MEGS is funded by NPR's Local News Initiative. Support is also provided by grants from the Radio Research Consortium (RRC) and Audience Research Analysis (ARA).
